Scribe Publishing: Getting Started on Your Book Cover
3 Steps to Prepare for Your Welcome Call
Congratulations on starting your book with Scribe Publishing!
Our goal is to publish the best book possible for you, and we know the sooner your book gets out into the world to start changing lives, the better.
One thing that will help us complete your book faster — and make the best use of your time overall — is to have a clear idea of what you’d like on your book cover.
You may already have ideas for what you want on the cover. That’s excellent, and it’ll help our design team focus on your vision.
If you’re still brainstorming on the cover, that’s completely fine — these next steps will help.
Identify covers you love
Please identify 5-7 book covers you love. These can be within the same genre as your book or completely random.
To do this, you can browse Amazon.com, bookcoverarchive.com, bookstore shelves, and your personal collection.
Take notes on what you love about these covers — the symbolism, colors, shock value, how it makes you feel (safe, challenged, smart), etc.
Identify covers you hate
Next, identify between 3-5 book covers you do not like at all.
Again, take notes on what you dislike about these covers so we can keep in mind while creating yours.
Email your Publishing Manager
You probably already have your welcome call with your Publishing Manager scheduled.
Before that call, compile all of the cover information you’ve collected in an email.
If possible, include a synopsis or outline for your book.
This information will form an excellent starting point for the conversation you’ll have about creating the perfect cover for your book.
Have fun!
