The Book That Builds Trust Before the First Meeting
Financial advisors and wealth managers use books to build instant credibility, attract high-net-worth clients, and differentiate from every other advisor in their market.
It was worth every penny. I already want to do another one.

Why Finance Professionals Write Books
01
Attract ideal clients
High-net-worth prospects choose the advisor who published the book on their exact financial situation.
02
Shorten the sales cycle
Clients who read your book arrive pre-sold on your philosophy and approach.
03
Stand out from competitors
In a sea of advisors with the same credentials, a book makes you the obvious choice.
04
Scale your expertise
Share your financial wisdom with thousands instead of one client at a time.
03
The 5-step game plan that turns advisors into must-hire experts
The playbook financial planners use to turn a book into their best source of new clients.
Step 1
What is Book Positioning (and Why Does it Matter)?
Who is this book for? What do you want it to accomplish? What's the core argument or story? How should it be structured?
We call this positioning. It's the most important step, and it's the one most people skip when they try to write on their own. A book without clear positioning is a book that sits on the shelf.
Nobody cares about your book. They care about what your book can do for them.
Lead Generation
Write the counterintuitive explanation down once so prospects can self-serve it by chapter
Belchamber's investment approach runs against the industry default, so explaining it in conversation was slow and rarely landed. He wrote the whole argument down instead, so he can point a prospect at a specific chapter rather than re-argue it. The side effect is screening: people who do not fit the approach filter themselves out before becoming clients.
“So I realized that instead of talking about it, it would probably make my life easier if I just wrote it all down - then people could say, 'Look at chapter one, chapter five, whatever - it's all there.'”
Five years on he reports the book brings him better-fit clients: "It's good to have the right clients, not everybody is appropriate for this, as I've discovered." No client counts or revenue given.

Ask yourself: Who will benefit the most from this book? Be as specific as possible. Consider demographics (age, gender, profession) and psychographics (goals, challenges, interests).
It’s tempting to try to appeal to everyone, but doing so waters down your message. Instead, imagine you’re writing to one specific person. This will help you stay focused and make your writing more personal and impactful.
Content & Positioning
Journaling and blogging customer conversations to identify book topics
Matt Bertulli journaled and blogged about repeated mistakes he observed in client conversations, which became the foundation for his book content.
To align your book objectives, identify the one event that will make all your efforts feel worthwhile. This “champagne moment” is your ultimate measure of success.
“When I book my first speaking engagement.”
“When I land my first client because of the book.”
“When I hold my published book in my hands.”
By identifying how your book serves its readers, you can ensure it resonates with the audience and drives the support and word-of-mouth promotion you need.
Lead Generation
Book as Lead Generation Centerpiece
Shaan positioned his book as the centerpiece of a seven-figure lead-generation funnel for his test prep business.
Doubled annual revenue year-over-year, 10-20x ROI on book project
In today’s world, most nonfiction books are published outside the traditional model, and the way books are monetized has shifted. Most nonfiction authors don’t earn significant revenue directly from book sales. Instead, a book serves as a powerful tool for indirect revenue generation.
For example, your book can elevate your authority, increase your visibility, and help you attract more clients. It’s not just about selling books – it’s about using your book as a marketing tool to generate opportunities and income in other areas of your career or business.
Lead Generation
Executive Email List Building Through Book
Publishing a specialized book about credit union technology (CU 2.0) built an email list of 13,000 executives in the niche market, which became a lead generation asset.
13,000 executive email list built; generated $50K/month in speaking and consulting revenue
Many authors say, “I just want my book to help people.” The key is defining how your book will do that.
Building Business Credibility – A book establishes you as an expert, making client interactions smoother and business opportunities more accessible.
Attracting the Right People – Your book acts as a magnet, bringing like-minded individuals into your world.
If you’ve been thinking about writing a book but aren’t sure if it’s worth the effort, consider the personal growth, the lives you can change, and the lasting legacy you can create.
Content & Positioning
Turn the book's foundational section into a simpler video for people who will not read the book
Belchamber took part one of his book, the behavioral-foundations section, and made a video from it with his son, deliberately pitched higher-level and simpler than the text. The point is to get the core idea in front of people who will never sit down with a finance book, using material the author has already written and already knows cold.
“We just did a video with my son on part one of the book, trying to make it higher-level, simpler, to get the idea across, because it's so powerful.”
Part of an ongoing content push five years after launch. Belchamber also started a Substack, Best Interest Wealth Management. No metrics given in the interview.

I didn't try to write the book myself. I had no idea where to start, and eventually I realized it was something I needed a professional partner for.

Everyone wants to do what their neighbors, coworkers, or brother-in-law does financially. But everybody is an individual. You need to build unique solutions for everyone's particular set of circumstances.
Not only was Mark's book easy and enjoyable for him, but it also turned out to be a professional success. Before he wrote his book, Mark did no speaking. Now he's averaging one speaking engagement a month, with nothing but word-of-mouth referrals. In particular, he derives satisfaction from speaking to groups in his community and getting them excited about personal finance.

Still deciding?
We get this question a lot: "How does this actually work?"
Fair question. Paying $30,000 to $135,000 for a book is a big decision. You should know exactly what you're getting into before you commit. So here's the full process, no surprises.
We publish our pricing because we think you deserve to know before you get on a call. Here's what our services cost:
Scribe Elite ($135,000+): Premier ghostwriting. Top-tier writers, fully customized.
Professional ($56,000): We interview you and write the book. Full publishing included.
Guided Author ($44,000): You write with our coaching. We edit and publish.
Publishing ($29,000): You've written the manuscript. We handle everything else.
Every Scribe project includes professional editing, cover design, interior layout, publishing, and distribution. You retain 100% of the creative rights, legal rights, and royalties. We don't take a cut of your book sales. Ever.
An advisor sells one thing before any product: trust. A book is the most efficient way to earn it. Here is how the process works. We interview you for about 50 hours, so the thinking is yours and the words carry your voice. A dedicated team then structures, writes, edits, designs, and publishes the finished book to 40,000+ retailers. Start to shelf runs 9 to 12 months.
It still requires your time. You'll need to participate in interviews, review drafts, and give feedback. Plan for 2 to 5 hours per week.
Your writer conducts 20 to 40 hours of structured interviews. They ask the right questions to pull out your ideas, stories, expertise, and voice. Every session is recorded and transcribed.
This is how we get a book that sounds like you, not like a ghostwriter. Because the ideas, the stories, the perspective... they're all yours. We just organize and polish them into a book.
No. Whether you publish with a traditional publisher or self publish, you will be responsible for your own marketing efforts.
What's included beyond writing? If publishing, design, and distribution are separate costs, your $30,000 ghostwriter might actually cost $50,000+.
That's a team of 5 to 10 professionals working on your book over the course of a year. The price reflects the work.
Who owns the rights? At Scribe, you own everything. Not every firm works this way. Read the contract.
Your book is available everywhere books are sold. And you own 100% of the rights and royalties. We don't take a cut. Not now, not ever.
Most of our authors hold their finished, published book within 9 to 15 months of starting. That includes writing, editing, design, and publishing. Some faster, some slower, depending on the service and their schedule.
That depends on what the book does for you.
For most of our authors, the book isn't the product. It's the tool. They use it to attract clients, land speaking gigs, build credibility in their field, or simply tell a story that matters to them.
A $56,000 book that brings in $500,000 in new business over five years is not an expense. It's one of the best investments you'll make. We've seen it happen hundreds of times. Check out our author success stories to see what we mean.
