David J. Mauro is a wealth management executive turned mountaineer and memoirist. While working in financial services in Washington state, he took up mountain climbing at age 44 during a period of divorce and depression. Over the following seven years he climbed the Seven Summits, the highest peak on each continent, from Denali and Kilimanjaro to Everest. He also writes for Adventures Northwest magazine. In The Altitude Journals, Mauro recounts that seven-year journey from the lowest point in his life to the highest point on Earth, tracing his growth from a naive beginner into a focused climber.
