Janice Bryant Howroyd

Janice Bryant Howroyd is the founder and chief executive officer of the ActOne Group and the author of Acting Up: Winning in Business and Life Using Down-Home Wisdom. Raised in Tarboro, North Carolina, in a family of eleven children, she opened her company in Los Angeles in 1978 with $1,500, a fax machine, and a phone, and grew it into a global employment and management enterprise. She is widely recognized as the first Black woman to build a billion-dollar business.
