About Shu
Shu Matsuo Post is a writer, speaker, and gender equity advocate based in Tokyo, Japan. A TED speaker and Japanese national, he is the author of I Took Her Name, which recounts his decision to take his wife's surname after marriage and his path to becoming a feminist advocate in one of the world's more gender-rigid societies. He took seven months of paternity leave after the birth of his first child, and he works with organizations and students in Japan on promoting gender equity and healthier expectations of masculinity.
