About Wayne

Wayne Reid is an author and advocate for racial healing and police accountability. In December 1998, his brother Franklyn Reid was shot and killed by a police investigator in New Milford, Connecticut, in a case that led to the first murder charge against a Connecticut police officer for an on-duty shooting. In the years that followed, Wayne developed an unlikely friendship with Charles D. Gill, the Superior Court judge who presided over the trial. Together they wrote Death by Cop: A Call for Unity, in which Wayne shares the full story of his brother's case alongside the judge's insight into the legal process.
