What happened in 2023
In May 2023, Scribe Media LLC, the company that ran Scribe at the time, ran out of money before many authors' books were finished. In the months that followed it laid off its employees, left many freelancers without pay, and faced legal proceedings against its owners. Enduring Ventures, a long-term holding company, stepped in and created a new organization to keep serving the old company's authors. Scribe was then bought out of foreclosure by a group put together by Eric Jorgenson, a Scribe author who had been hurt by the collapse himself.
