Yes, I Am the Surgeon

Yes, I Am the Surgeon

by Lattisha Bilbrew

About This Book

Dr. Lattisha Latoyah Bilbrew was the first Black female orthopaedic surgeon to become a partner at the largest orthopaedic practice in Georgia. She understands that when you’re the only person who looks like you in your field, there’s pressure on you at all times.
In Yes, I Am the Surgeon: Lessons on Perseverance in a World That Tells You No, Dr. Bilbrew shows you how to rise through adversity. As a surgeon, she carefully chooses her tools for each operation. Dr. Bilbrew offers you a collection of psychological tools for you to choose from for your own trials and challenges. From seeing her grandmother reject medical care because of apathetic hospital staff to being under constant scrutiny during her surgical training, Dr. Bilbrew learned to grow from moments that might knock others down.
Yes, I Am the Surgeon teaches you how to persevere even when the world is telling you “no.” If there’s something you must do, but you’re scared, then do it afraid. But by all means, still do it.
