About Daniel
Daniel Pearse is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and an advocate for its prevention. The abuse he endured for nine years in a foster home affected his life for decades, resurfacing when he was forty-five and prompting him to confront its impact. In his book Breaking the Cycle of Silence: Raising Awareness and Taking Action to Prevent Childhood Sexual Abuse, he shares his story, examines the role of institutions, legal systems, and communities, and calls for age-appropriate prevention education that teaches children what is appropriate, helps adults recognize the signs of abuse, and points survivors toward support. He continues to petition Canadian lawmakers to adopt Daniel's Law.
