Quan Huynh

Quan Huynh is the author of Sparrow in the Razor Wire: Finding Freedom from Within While Serving a Life Sentence. In 1999, he shot and killed another man in a gang-related incident in Hollywood, California, and received a sentence of fifteen years to life at a time when California did not parole prisoners serving life sentences. After spending twenty-two years in and out of correctional institutions, he was paroled in 2015 and started his first company six months later. He now serves as executive director of Defy Ventures in Southern California, a nonprofit that helps men and women with criminal histories change their lives through entrepreneurship.
